Ashton Kutcher is feeling pretty lucky these days.
Days after Kutcher was announced as Charlie Sheen's replacement on Two and a Half Men, the 33-year-old actor told reporters that he "could not be more excited" to join the hit show.

"I've never probably in my 13 years in show business received more phone calls and e-mails from people congratulating me on this job. You'd almost think I won the lottery or something, which I kind of did," Kutcher said at the CBS Upfronts in NYC on Wednesday. "I've got the best job in show business, and I am ecstatic about that."

Kutcher will earn roughly $1 million per episode. His new costar, Jon Cryer, said he's looking forward to working with the Iowa native when production begins next fall.

"I'm incredibly happy they're bringing Ashton to the show, but the question that I have to ask is, 'Did you have to get the tall guy? Really? Is that necessary?'" Cryer, 46, joked. "But I brought myself to a place of incredible excitement about our new beginning, which I refer to as One and Two Half Men."

As history's most feared pirate about to be immortalised in a Hollywood blockbuster, the legend of Captain Blackbeard is already known the world over.
But archaeologists are set to recover another massive Blackbeard artefact after setting sail to pull up the anchor from his legendary ship the Queen Anne's Revenge.
Research teams off the North Carolina coast where the ship sank will attempt to pull the enormous 13ft anchor to the surface on an expedition to start next week.

The Queen Anne's Revenge was the infamous vessel commanded by English outlaw Blackbeard - who roamed the seas in the early 18th century and wore lit fuses under his hat to frighten his enemies.

14 YEARS OF DISCOVERIES

Experts have found an array of fascinating artefacts from Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge wreckage since 1996.
Archeologists have recovered onion bottles, two bells of Spanish or Portuguese origin a coin weight with Queen Anne's likeness stamped on it, buckles, glass beads, buttons, cuff links, pieces of wine glasses, a syringe, gold flakes, among others.
The same team are said to have also found 11 cannons from the pirate ship, including one in 2005 and another in 2007.
Another rare find was a partly gilded hilt thought to have held the sword of Blackbeard himself.

The latest recovery effort comes the same week Blackbeard is immortalised on the big screen in the new Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The latest franchise installment - Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides, sees Ian McShane play the legendary pirate alongside Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz.
Named after his flowing black beard, Blackbeard - whose real name is thought to be Edward Teach or Thatch - operated around the West Indies and the east coast of the American colonies.
In 1717, he captured a French slave ship and renamed it Queen Anne's Revenge.
Although Blackbeard's career lasted only two years, he was the world's most feared pirate and once held hostage the entire city of Charleston, South Carolina.
Blackbeard settled in Bath, North Carolina, where he eventually received a governor's pardon.
Some experts say he grew bored and returned to piracy.

 

He was killed by volunteers from the British Royal Navy in November 1718, five months after the ship thought to be Queen Anne's Revenge sank.
After running aground on a sandbar in 1718 near the town of Beaufort, North Carolina, the ship was abandoned but probably remained intact for as long as a year before collapsing and disintegrating.

Linda Carlisle, North Carolina's cultural resources secretary, said: 'Blackbeard and piracy are important threads in eastern North Carolina's maritime heritage fabric.
'The historic and economic value of this project is enormous.'
Next week's planned recovery has been described as an 'archeologist's dream come true.'
The Queen Anne's Revenge shipwreck site, located off North Carolina's coast, has yielded more than 250,000 artifacts and is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites.
Experts have been excavating the ship for 14 years since the area was located in 1996 by Florida company Intersal, Inc.
Mark Wilde-Ramsing, a deputy state archaeologist, said the anchor is believed to be the second biggest on the site, measuring about 13ft long with arms 8ft wide and weighing about 3,000 pounds (1,360 kg).

Penelope Cruz taught Johnny Depp "raunchy" Spanish words on the set of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'.

The 37-year-old actress stars as pirate Angelica in the movie and in between takes the pair would share jokes, with Penelope making sure Hollywood hunk Johnny knew plenty of her native tongue – including some choice phrases.

He said: "She taught me the raunchiest Spanish that I’ve ever been told. It’s so foul that I couldn’t bring myself to repeat it, here and now. It’s a bad idea. I would carry that on my back for the rest of my days."

The Rob Marshall-directed action comedy film is not the first time Johnny and Penelope have worked together, previously having starred in 'Blow', and the pair quickly rekindled their chemistry on the set.

Johnny added: "Going to work with Penelope again, having done the film 'Blow' together, 10 or 11 years ago, the weird thing was that, when we saw each other again, it felt like we’d wrapped 'Blow' the week before, or a few days before.

"It just clicked instantly. Whatever exists, in terms of chemistry, was just instantly firing on all cylinders. It felt completely right. It was Rob’s brilliant idea to bring her in, and when he brought up the idea to me, I went, 'Great idea!' I was very, very excited to have Penelope come into this film."

Ditemukan, 10 Planet Baru di Galaksi Bima Sakti

Liputan6.com, Wellington: Sepuluh planet baru "mengambang" melalui galaksi ditemukan tim astronom internasional yang dipimpin ilmuwan Selandia Baru. Kesepuluh planet berukuran Jupiter itu merupakan penemuan baru dalam sejarah Galaksi Bima Sakti. Penemuan menggunakan perangkat lunak yang dikembangkan ilmuwan komputer Universitas Massey, Wellington, Australia.

"Mereka planet raksasa di galaksi kita, sekitar ukuran Jupiter. Ternyata selam ini kesepuluh planet tersebut berada di suatu tempat di antara kita dan bintang-bintang," kata Ian Bond, seorang Astro Fisika, belum lama ini. Planet-planet itu diyakini berjarak sekitar dua-pertiga dari pusat galaksi, berjarak sekitar 25.000 tahun cahaya.

Jika mereka terlihat dengan mata telanjang, planet-planet itu akan menjadi gelap gulita, karena mereka tidak memancarkan cahaya. Planet baru ini bisa saja dikeluarkan dari sistem surya karena pertemuan gravitasi dekat dengan planet lain atau bintang. Kemungkinan besar planet baru tumbuh dari keruntuhan bola gas dan debu, tapi tak memiliki massa untuk menyalakan bahan bakar dan menghasilkan cahaya bintang sendiri.

Temuan itu menyebabkan para peneliti beraharap planet mengambang bebas seukuran Bumi yang dapat mendukung kehidupan. Meskipun hingga saat ini kemungkinan itu kecil, planet semacam itu belum terdeteksi.(Xinhua/AIS)

LOS ANGELES - Kisah asmara Robert Pattinson dan Kristen Stewart terancam kandas. Hal ini karena Robert berencana memutuskan hubungan dengan Kristen dalam waktu dekat.

Pasangan yang pertama kali bertemu pada film Twilight itu akan segera putus karena Rob ingin menjadi pria single seutuhnya.

"Rob ingin menjadi pria single secepatnya. Rob mencintai Kristen, tetapi dia mengatakan rasa cinta mereka belakangan ini semakin memudar," ucap sumber yang dikutip Showbizspy, Kamis (19/5/2011).

Menurut sumber, renggangnya hubungan pasangan itu disebabkan kesibukan mereka masing-masing. Kesibukan kerja membuat Rob dan Kristen menjauh dan jarang bersama-sama lagi.

"Sepertinya dia menemukan hubungan yang sulit saat ini. Kadang-kadang Kristen hanya ingin di rumah dan menonton film atau mendengarkan Bob Dylan. Jadwal bekerja yang padat menyebabkan mereka semakin sedikit menghabiskan waktu bersama-sama. Seiring dengan itu, hubungan mereka kian renggang," bebernya.

"Rob adalah salah satu aktor yang paling dibutuhkan saat ini. Dia menemukan kesulitan untuk menyeimbangkan kerja dan hubungan asmaranya, tapi dia tampaknya menyerah karena merasa sulit membayangkan pemecahan masalahnya dengan Kristen soal waktu untuk bersama," pungkasnya.(rik)
